About IFP
Welcome to Indigenous Fashion Projects (IFP), brought to you by the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair (DAAF) Foundation, and is the home of the National Indigenous Fashion Awards (NIFA), Country to Couture, and the IFP Pathways Program.
We support artists, Art Centres and designers from every corner of Australia to tell their stories through their work in textiles and fashion. We help them connect to markets, grow their capability, build their networks and grow their businesses.
The DAAF Foundation is a membership organisation of more than 70 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Centres and their thousands of artists from all over Australia. The Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair was established in 2007 to sell artists’ work direct to collectors, galleries and art lovers. Now, 15 years later, the Art Fair has grown to be one of the largest creative events in the Northern Territory and includes a many development projects and events and of course Indigenous Fashion Projects.
The work of IFP is guided by the following values:
- Cultural expression, advancement & protection
- Sustainable practice: environmental, social and financial
- Community engagement
- Collaboration
- Developing stronger businesses
- Good governance
