The annual showcase of First Nations textiles and fashion design.

Supported by the Northern Territory Government via NT Major Events and iconic Australian lifestyle brand Country Road, Country to Couture celebrates the marriage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander contemporary fine art and high-end fashion.

The success of the textile design movement in remote Indigenous communities has led to innovative fashion collections and exciting collaborations with well known Australian designers, which have been showcased in the Country to Couture event alongside the annual Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair (DAAF) since 2016.

Split into TWO incredible runway shows, this year’s Artist and Designer line-up will be announced soon!

IFP Yarns | Julie Shaw, MAARA Collective

Headed up by Yuwaalaraay creative director Julie Shaw, Maara Collective’s luxurious resort wear is informed by a deep connection to community. Julie’s brand honours collaboration in the creative processes, with “maara” translating to “hands” in the Yuwaalaraay and Gamilaraay language groups.
It’s been a stellar couple of years for Julie and her label, and she’s been written into pretty much every chapter of the IFP story so far!
