Indigenous Fashion Projects are returning to Larrakia Country for a week of events celebrating First Nations design, textiles, fashion and culture.

Carried by Our Matriarchs – From Legacy we Rise
There is a rhythm carried by women.
It moves in the passing of knowledge, from women who walk with wisdom between land and sea. Carrying stories in their hands, knowledge in their voices, and culture in the quiet rhythm of making.
This runway celebrates the artistry of women, their collaboration, their lore. An honouring of matriarchal strength and the grace of Ancestral knowledge moving through the sacred cycles of Blak women.
With beauty and ceremony, breathing life into practices carried quietly across generations.

Imprints and Memory – Seasons of the Land, Waters and Sky
Across many lands and waters, the same sky stretches above us.
As a living archive the sky holds memory. It moves in cycles, the changing seasons guiding rhythms of life. Lands, waters and sky sustain our living cultures, showing us that when Country flourishes, so too can we.
On the runway, each piece carries imprints of Country, celebrating the strength of First Nations cultures, where seasons guide what lies ahead – reminding us that Country is a living relationship, a source of power, strength and interconnectedness.

National Indigenous Fashion Awards Ceremony
Come together on Larrakia Country for this year’s National Indigenous Fashion Awards (NIFA) sunset ceremony at the iconic Deckchair Cinema!
The NIFA provides a vibrant and exciting platform to celebrate the innovation, diversity and ethical practices of Australia’s First Nations peoples in fashion and textiles, whilst contributing to the capacity building of the sector.

PUBLIC PROGRAM
Engage with the contemporary creations from the world’s oldest living cultures. This vibrant Public Program runs alongside the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair (DAAF), packed with both free and ticketed events for all ages. Immerse in traditional dance performances, artist masterclasses and talks, material demonstrations, children’s activities, fashion and more.
The Indigenous Fashion Projects (IFP) team will be back, serving up a series of fashion stalls, exhibits and activities!
