Ngaire: Culture, Connection and Storyteling

For the theme of NAIDOC Week 2025, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,” we are spotlighting Ngaire as a vital part of the next generation of innovative First Nations designers and cultural educators.

 For the past seven years, she has dedicated her work to Aboriginal cultural education, using traditional Aboriginal practices as a powerful tool for teaching. Alongside this, she has continuously developed her own personal, intricate woven artworks.

Ngaire’s creations are more than just woven pieces; they are wearable art, crafted and colored directly from Country. Each work is a powerful and prideful celebration of her connection to culture and Country, imbued with rich, layered storytelling

They reflect a journey of learning, teaching, and living her heritage through every strand.

That initial spark quickly grew into a deep passion. After connecting with local mob and incredible cultural teachers at Speaking in Colour, Ngaire was honored to become a weaving teacher herself. For the past seven years, she has dedicated her work to Aboriginal cultural education, using traditional Aboriginal practices as a powerful tool for teaching. Alongside this, she has continuously developed her own personal, intricate woven artworks.
